PASS Medical School Head Start Program is a preview of the medical school environment and curriculum for the student who wants to start off their journey with a considerable advantage. Not only is the Head Start program an excellent foundation for underrepresented minority, educationally or financially disadvantaged or non-traditional students, but the program can benefit anyone because you will be learning and practicing skills that will help you to stand out as an exceptional medical student and one day, a great physician.
In addition to 4 weeks of classroom instruction, with a preview of much of the first year's curriculum in the topics of:
- Physiology
- Biochemistry
- Pharmacology
- Behavioral Science
- Microbiology & Immunology
- Anatomy & Embryology
You will also receive the following small group sessions covering:
- Study Strategies
- Exam Taking Skills for Medical School
- Time Management
- Stress Management
- Preparing for boards
- Unlimited use of computer lab (during Center hours)
- Mentoring
Students who have taken advantage of the Head Start Program have outperformed their peers in the first year of Medical School, which is the hardest year. They have also performed better on their boards. We can help you develop the habits and skills that contribute to success in Medical School.
